2 motorcyclists seriously injured in crash, 1 arrested after driving through scene

Two people were seriously injured after a recent crash between a motorcycle and a car, after which another motorcyclist was arrested for OVI when he drove through the crash scene in Kettering.

Officers and medics were dispatched at 10:40 p.m. Aug. 30 to the intersection of East Dorothy Lane and Ackerman Boulevard, according to the Kettering Police Department.

Kettering police Lt. Ryan Vandegrift said that the driver and passenger from the motorcycle suffered serious injuries, and medics took them to Kettering Health Main Hospital.

Due to the serious injuries, police said that the Accident Investigation Team and the Tactical Crime Suppression Unit responded to the scene.

A few hours later, at about 1:20 a.m., Vandegrift said that a motorcyclist drove into the crash scene and was stopped by officers. A police blotter identified the rider as a 47-year-old man who rode past police tape and a cruiser that was positioned to block traffic.

The lieutenant said that the motorcyclist is believed to have been intoxicated and was arrested for OVI.

The blotter said that a breath test showed he had a blood alcohol content of 0.198. The legal limit to drive in Ohio is 0.08.
