A 71-year-old Virginia man was killed and two others critically injured Tuesday evening in a crash involving two SUVs that shut down a portion of U.S. 68 for four hours in Xenia Twp.

James Dominy of Chesterfield, Va., was making a right turn around 6:20 p.m. onto U.S. 68 from Brush Row Road when his Honda CR-V was struck by a Chevrolet Blazer, driven by 24-year-old Carl Lindsley of Beavercreek, that was headed north on U.S. 68, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Xenia Post.

The impact forced the CR-V off the right side of the roadway before it reentered and struck the Blazer again before coming to rest. The Blazer overturned onto its side following the second impact.

Dominy, his passenger, 66-year-old Margaret Dominy, also of Chesterfield, Va., and Lindsley all were taken to Miami Valley Hospital, where James Dominy succumbed to his injuries.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Xenia Twp. Fire Department and the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The crash remains under investigation.
