“Crews began arriving within approximately five minutes and found heavy fire conditions in a three-story apartment building,” according to the fire department. “Multiple hose lines were deployed to control the fire, and crews rapidly completed searches of the building for any trapped occupants.”
The victim was removed from the apartment building and transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Two additional victims escaped from the structure prior to the fire department’s arrival with unknown injuries and were transported to a local hospital as well.
Multiple pets were located and removed from the structure, the statement said.
“The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Dayton Fire Department’s Fire Investigations Unit,” the fire department said. “DFD crews remain on the scene at the time of this release.”
