9-year-old boy trampled by horses in Darke County barn

A 9-year-old boy was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon when he was trampled by two horses inside a Darke County barn.

The accident happened around 4:20 p.m. in the 300 block of Weavers-Fort Jefferson Road in Liberty Twp., according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

A Tri-Village Rescue official said the boy was alert and oriented but seriously injured. He was flown to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, but the boy was not riding either of the horses.
