The medical building is designed offer a range of specialized pediatric care, anchored by gastroenterology, neurology, preventive cardiology, urology, genetics, pediatric surgery clinics and outpatient laboratory services, plus ear, nose and throat and Center for Better Health and Nutrition.
Cincinnati Children’s expects to eventually add other subspecialty care at the location, the medical center said.
“The variety of subspecialty practices will make the location the first of its kind for Cincinnati Children’s in Montgomery County,” it said. “Cincinnati Children’s already cares for thousands of patients in Centerville and Dayton through clinics in surrounding areas, which the medical center has operated for decades.”
Patient appointments can start to be scheduled in late January, with the first patient planned to be seen in March 2023.
“We’re making this investment in Cincinnati Children’s Centerville so that the kids and families of Montgomery County can receive care from us in a location closer to their homes,” Dr. Steve Davis, president and CEO of Cincinnati Children’s, said in the release. “Our goal is to deliver personalized care as well as the best outcomes and value for patients and families throughout the region.”
Hiring has begun for several jobs created by the opening of Cincinnati Children’s Centerville. In addition, medical center specialists will be based there or rotate in to see patients.
The precise number of employees working at Cincinnati Children’s Centerville has yet to be determined, but the number will be “significant,” medical center spokesman Barrett Brunsman told this news outlet.
“Some of those will be new jobs. And some employees who already work for the medical center — including some of the medical specialists who are physicians and nurses — will be based there or rotate in,” Brunsman said.
Dayton Children’s has more than 20 locations in the Dayton region, offering similar care.
The Centerville site is a total of 6.9 acres, which includes the 3.8-acre property where the building is located, which Cincinnati Children’s purchased for $2 million on June 30, according to the medical center. It also purchased 3.1 acres in additional outlots for $614,837 from another seller Sept. 2.
Located in a wooded setting, the 12,990-square-foo, single-story building previously was home to a private medical practice. Cincinnati Children’s is renovating the space to better accommodate pediatric subspecialty services, the medical center said.
The facility was constructed in 2007 in a way that allows for expansion. Cost of the remodel and the medical equipment was not disclosed, Brunsman said.
