Suspect arrested, woman killed in early-morning shooting in Dayton

A man is in custody after a woman was shot and killed early Monday morning in Dayton.

At 2:20 a.m., a shooting was reported in the 2900 block of Millicent Avenue.

A 911 caller said neighbors from across the street ran to their house and said there was a shooting, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch.

While the caller was on the phone with dispatchers, they said a man believed to be connected to the shooting came back to the house.

Dayton officers arrived and found a victim, a 34-year-old woman. She was pronounced dead at the scene, said Dayton police Lt. Steven Bauer.

A 32-year-old man was arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Jail.

Miami Valley Jail booking records show he’s being held on a preliminary aggravated murder charge. Formal charges have not been filed as of Monday morning.
