Wisconsin woman killed in I-75 North crash in Miami County

A Wisconsin woman died following a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 North in Miami County Thursday morning.

Tipp City medics transported 42-year-old Sandra Willis, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Upper Valley Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Around 6:03 a.m., a 2019 International semi-truck went off the left side of the northbound lanes and hit a concrete median. The trailer the semi was hauling started to slow while still in part of the left lane and berm.

A 2022 Dodge Charger, driven by Willis, hit the back of the trailer, according to OSHP.

The impact sent the Charger across the northbound lanes of the highway, and it was hit by a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox in the right lane.

Willis was ejected from the Charger. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to OSHP.

The Equinox went off the right side of the highway and went through a fence before hitting a tree.

Vandalia medics transported the driver of the Equinox to Miami Valley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash closed the northbound lanes for part of the morning while crews investigated and cleared the scene. The Ohio Department of Transportation, Vandalia Fire and EMS and Tipp City Fire and EMS assisted troopers.

The crash remains under investigation by OSHP.
