Estey Pringle, 63, of Waynesville, was driving a farm tractor south on U.S. 42 when the tractor was rear-ended by an International semi tractor-trailer driven by Edward L. Williams, 68, of Middletown, according to the Lebanon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Pringle was thrown from his farm tractor and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The impact forced the semi off the side of the roadway, through the median and across the northbound lanes before it overturned in a ditch. Williams was trapped and had to be extricated. He was flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital with life-threatening injuries, the patrol said.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Waynesville Police Department, Wayne Twp. Fire Department and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation.
