Man killed in head-on crash on state Route 4 in Riverside ID’d; 2 others critically hurt

A 40-year-old man was killed in a head-on crash Tuesday afternoon that critically injured two others on state Route 4 in Riverside.

The man who died was identified as Timothy Hall of Fairborn by Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.

The crash was reported around 2:30 p.m. on state Route 4 near Harshman Road.

Initial reports show that an SUV traveling south crossed the median and struck a minivan headed in the opposite direction. Hall was ejected from the SUV and pronounced dead on the scene, officials said.

Two people had to be cut from a vehicle and were taken in critical condition to Miami Valley Hospital, officials on the scene said.

Maj. Adam Colon with the Riverside Police Department urged drivers to avoid the area for several hours following the crash as crews investigate.

“Route 4 will be shut down for a significant amount of time,” Colon said. “Get off at Stanley Avenue or you’ll be waiting a long time at Harshman Road. If you can avoid Route 4, it would be helpful for us.”
