A motorist fled the scene of a fiery hit-and-run crash on foot in Dayton Wednesday night where two people suffered possible injuries.

The crash was reported just before 8:30 p.m. at North James H. McGee Boulevard and Philadelphia Drive.

A motorist driving a 2009 Volvo heading east on North James H. McGee Boulevard at an excessive rate of speed apparently lost control of the car and drove off the left side of the road, crossing a grass median and both lanes of oncoming traffic, according to a Dayton police crash report.

The Volvo reportedly went over the curb and hit a traffic signal box and light pole before crashing into the front of a 2005 Ford Taurus that was stopped on Philadelphia Drive.

The driver of the Volvo then fled on foot, according to the report.

The intersection was blocked following the crash.

A 74-year-old man driving the Ford and a 15-year passenger in the Volvo had possible injuries. An 18-year-old man who was also a passenger in the Volvo was not injured, according to the report.

We will update this report as we learn more information.
