Man in ’very critical condition’ following shooting in Dayton

Dayton police say a 31-year-old man is in “very critical condition” after he was shot late Wednesday night.

Dayton fire crews reported the shooting just before 11 p.m. near South James H. McGee Boulevard and West Third Street.

“Fire department personnel immediately began rendering aid to the victim, who was suffering from gunshot wounds,” said Dayton police Lt. Jason Hall. “The 31-year-old male was removed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and is still in very critical condition.”

The man was shot in a vehicle by someone in a pickup truck while he was stopped at a red light, according to an investigation by Dayton homicide detectives.

Police were reportedly looking for a maroon Ford F-150 pickup truck with a back window that had two people inside following the shooting.
