Dayton, Columbus see record numbers of 70-plus degree days in February

Both Dayton and Columbus have broken records for high temperatures this month, and now have both broken another: most days of 70 degrees or higher in February

According to the National Weather Service, Dayton and Columbus both saw three days this month with unseasonably warm highs in the 70s. Both cities previously had records of two days of 70-plus degree weather in February, measured in 2000 and in 2017.

In Dayton, temperatures rose into the 70s on Feb. 15, 22 and 23. These high temperatures broke records on Feb. 15 and 22, while tying previous records on Feb. 23.

In Columbus, each 70-plus degree day broke records, occurring on Feb. 9, 15 and 23.

Records broken in Dayton and Columbus ranged in age from 5 years to 101 years old.
