Dayton police seek public’s help investigating Monday night shooting

Dayton police are asking anyone with information on a shooting Monday night that injured an 18-year-old man to reach out to investigators.

People can call 937-333-1232 to speak to a detective or they can submit tips anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 937-222-STOP (7867) or visiting www.miamivalleycrimestoppers.com.

Dayton crews were dispatched at 8:40 p.m. Monday to the 2200 block of Lakeview Avenue on a report of a shooting, according to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center.

A man who called 911 said he was shot three times in the leg and hip with a shotgun, according to dispatch records.

When officers arrived, they found the 18-year-old gunshot victim with injuries, said Dayton police Lt. Steven Bauer.

He was taken to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment of injuries that police said were not life-threatening.
