An 18-year-old Dayton man who reportedly robbed at least five people who met with him to purchase a Facebook Marketplace item is facing charges.

A grand jury indicted Ashton LJ Brooks on five counts of aggravated robbery in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.

Between Dec. 18 and Jan. 9, Dayton police received five reports of people being robbed while meeting up to purchase or trade for an Xbox posted on Facebook Marketplace.

The suspect lured the victims to Elmwood Avenue in Dayton and then used a firearm to demand money, according to Dayton Municipal Court records. In one instance, a victim met with the suspect to trade shoes for an Xbox and the suspect reportedly took the shoes.

Two of the victims identified the suspect as Brooks in a photo lineup, according to municipal court records.

“Brooks was arrested and confessed to four of five aggravated robberies,” an affidavit read. “Digital evidence links him to all five.”

Crews also found a loaded gun at his residence on Iroquois Avenue, according to court documents.

Brooks was arrested on Jan. 10 and is being held in the Montgomery County Jail. His bond was previously set at $100,000 in municipal court.
