The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance has announced that it has appointed Elaine Gounaris as Vice President for Philanthropy.

DPAA cited Gounaris’ experience with nonprofit fundraising in the decision, saying that she has “a distinguished record of leading successful campaigns in individual giving, major gifts, grants, and corporate sponsorships.”

She previously worked at the Dayton Art Institute, DPAA said, where she expanded the institute’s philanthropic support and managed popular fundraising events like Art Ball and Oktoberfest, and prior to that led development efforts at Equitas Health and the Ohio State University’s Wexner Center for the Arts.

She has also served on the boards of the Wright Library Foundation and SICSA, and is a longtime resident of Oakwood, DPAA said.

“She has been a major force behind some of Dayton’s legendary fundraising events,” DPAA President and CEO Patrick J. Nugent said. “Her association with the Dayton Ballet dates back to early childhood, so we are delighted that she has come full circle back to her artistic home at DPAA.”
