Dayton police are again asking for public help locating the vehicle at fault in a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened in April.

In posts to social media, police said that the vehicle started a four-vehicle crash at 1028 S. Gettysburg Ave. Cody Kelly, 25, of Dayton, was injured in the crash and died of his injuries a week later, according to police on social media and in a crash report.

According to the crash report, the vehicle was driving west from private property at 1028 S. Gettysburg Avenue when it tried to make a right turn onto S. Gettysburg Avenue. However, it didn’t yield the right of way to vehicles already on the road when it did so and crashed into the right rear passenger-side quarter panel of a Chrysler 300 traveling north.

The crash made the 300 go into the ongoing lanes of traffic, causing the motorcycle, ridden by 25-year-old Cody Kelly, to quickly hit the brakes.

A 2016 Ford F-150 crashed into the motorcycle from behind.

Kelly was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, where he later died.

According to the crash report, police don’t have a suspect license plate number or a named suspect.
