A portion of South Edwin C. Moses Boulevard temporarily was shut down Wednesday in Dayton as the U.S. Postal Service checked for any absentee ballots or other personal mail scattered along the roadside.

Officers were dispatched shortly after 10 a.m. to a report of a large amount of mail alongside South Edwin C. Moses Boulevard/Nicholas Road between Wisconsin Boulevard and Broadway Street.

The Dayton postal inspector said they were able to verify the scattered mailings fell off a recycling company truck that was transporting commercial mail and other advertisements to be destroyed or recycled, Dayton police posted on social media.

“There was no personal mail nor absentee ballots on this truck nor in the road,” the post stated.
