Dayton sets high temperature record for Friday

Dayton broke the high temperature record for Friday.

The high temperature for Aug. 30 reached 98 degrees, recorded at 4:20 p.m. at the Dayton International Airport.

It broke the old record of 96 degrees set 126 years ago in 1898 and tied 71 years ago in 1953, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Dayton has not reached at least 98 degrees since 2012, according to NWS data.
