A 42-year-old man who reportedly was caught sexually abusing a 9-year-old in Eaton is facing multiple charges.

John Williams was charged with rape, sexual battery and gross sexual imposition in Eaton Municipal Court.

A woman reportedly witnessed the child engaging in a sex act with Williams in a bedroom on Sunday.

When he was confronted, Williams denied it and grabbed a shotgun, according to court records. The woman and another man were able to grab the shotgun and hide it.

Preble County sheriff’s deputies responded and spoke to Williams.

“When John was asked about the allegation, he stated he didn’t know,” an affidavit read. “John stated he knows what happens to guys that go to jail for this stuff. John repeated that nothing happened.”

While a deputy was detaining Williams, he pulled away and ran out the back door, according to court records.

On Tuesday, the sheriff’s office posted on social media that Williams was in custody.
