3 injured after vehicle crashes into wooded area on U.S. 35 in Dayton

Three people were taken to the hospital after a vehicle went off eastbound U.S. 35 near James H. McGee Boulevard and crashed into a wooded area Tuesday evening.

U.S. 35 was closed east of Abbey Avenue due to the two-vehicle crash, which was reported at 6:24 p.m., according to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center.

Multiple 911 callers reported a vehicle went off the road, down an embankment and into a wooded area, according to dispatch records.

“They flipped over and everything,” a woman said. “They’re stuck.”

A man who called 911 said it appeared two vehicles were racing prior to the crash.

Three people were inside the vehicle, and one person was unconscious, according to the dispatch log.

Emergency crews responding to the scene found at least one crash victim was trapped.

Three people were taken to Miami Valley Hospital in unknown conditions.
