“I look forward to continuing my work for Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, expanding economic development and opportunity in our community, and working on bipartisan solutions that will help hardworking Ohioans,” Turner said in a statement following his victory.
As of 11:15 p.m. on election night, Turner held 57.7% of the vote, while Cox held 39.2% of the vote with more than 354,000 votes tallied and nearly all precincts reporting, according to unofficial results from the Ohio Secretary of State. Independent candidate Michael Harbaugh held a share of 3.1% of the vote.
“We listened to your concerns, your needs, your hopes, dreams, and fears. We built a platform to address them and advocate for you,” Cox said in a statement following her defeat. “I am sorry that I will not be able to do so in Congress.”
The area’s latest call came in Ohio’s 1st Congressional District, where incumbent Rep. Greg Landsman, D-Cincinnati, was declared the victor by AP at 10:49 p.m. He defeated Republican challenger Orlando Sonza of Springfield Twp. in a competitive congressional district that includes all of Warren County and a portion of Hamilton County.
“The last time a Democrat was first re-elected in OH-01 was 1984. Tonight, 40 years later, we won re-election in this battleground district,” Landsman posted on X following his win. “Voters want normal, pragmatic, reliable, and bipartisan leadership — and they know they get that with me and our team. We get things done for folks in Southwest Ohio. We do the work, and we do it in a bipartisan way.”
As of 11:55 p.m., Landsman led with 54% of the vote while Sonza held 46% with 383,000 votes tallied and all precincts reporting, according to unofficial results from the Ohio Secretary of State.
Incumbent Rep. Mike Carey, R-Columbus, kept hold of his meandering Ohio Congressional District 15, which extends westward from his hometown through portions of Clark and Miami counties. The Associated Press declared Carey the victor over Adam Miller, a state Democratic lawmaker from Columbus.
As of 11:55 p.m., Carey held 57% of the vote while Miller held 43% with 338,000 votes tallied and nearly all precincts reporting, according to unofficial state results.
In Ohio’s 8th Congressional District spanning from Hamilton County through Butler, Darke, and Miami Counties, U.S. Rep. Warren Davidson, R-Troy, defeated Democratic challenger Vanessa Enoch of West Chester. The race was called just before 10 p.m.
Davidson, a former owner and operator of manufacturing companies and U.S. Army veteran, has been in Congress since 2016. Tuesday’s result is the fourth time in a row he’s beaten Enoch, a West Chester Twp. resident who owns a Cincinnati-based management consulting firm.
As of 11:55 p.m., Davidson held 63% of the vote while Enoch carried 39% with 371,000 votes tallied and nearly all precincts reporting, according to unofficial state results.
