The city received about $6.8 million in American Rescue Plan Act money. Small businesses can apply through Sept. 30, Fairborn officials said.
“This is a great opportunity for us to support the small businesses within the city of Fairborn as they continue to recover from the negative effects of the pandemic” Fairborn City Manager Rob Anderson said.
Business eligibility requirements are, according to the city:
• Operate within the city.
• Were in operation on Jan. 1, 2020.
• Have been fully open and operating as of Nov. 1, 2021.
• Not be a franchise.
• Be in good standing with city tax payments and regulations.
• Experienced a 25% to 80% loss in revenue between the end of the calendar years 2020 and 2021.
• Had gross receipts of no less than $50,000 and no more than $1 million.
• Have fewer than 200 employees.
All the applications will be evaluated for compliance based on the ARPA guidelines set forth by the federal government. Those with questions are asked to contact Cherise Schell with the city at 937-754-3030.
This is a continuation of multiple phases of ARPA grants in the city. In late August, Fairborn announced it would allot up to $25,000 to each of nine nonprofit applicants for ARPA funds.
They include Choose2Love, Fairborn FISH, TCN Behavioral Health Services, United Church Homes, Fairborn Senior Citizens Association, Operation Fairborn Cares, Abiding Christ Lutheran Church, Miami Valley Military History Museum and the Fairborn YMCA.
In June, Fairborn’s City Council approved earmarking most of its ARPA money for several projects. Renovation of the former Fire Station #1 received $2 million, and $1 million was set aside for stormwater improvements. The Fairborn Phoenix/theater project, economic development and the Memorial Park construction each were allotted $500,000.
