The Dayton Bomb Squad cleared a Washington Twp. house after the FBI reportedly found suspicious items during a Wednesday morning search.

The FBI was executing a court-authorized search warrant on Bridlewood Trail when SWAT crews conducted a search to secure the house, said FBI Public Affairs Specialist Todd Lindgren.

“During this time, suspicious objects were located. Out of an abundance of caution, the Dayton Police Bomb Squad was contacted to provide support,” he said. “The bomb squad has cleared the residence and the search is now continuing.”

It is not clear what prompted the search.

A door and window at a house in the 9600 block appeared to be busted out, and FBI crews could be seen inspecting a high-powered rifle with a scope.

Leslie Moss, who lives nearby, said she woke up around 6 a.m. to the sound of the FBI over a loudspeaker and flash bangs, also known as stun grenades.

“The house was surrounded,” she said. “The streets were blocked off on every side. That was very startling.”

After a few minutes people started exiting the house, and then the FBI called for more people to come out. Eventually, everyone left the house, she said.

Moss saw two people who left the house get escorted to a van before it left.

The FBI appeared to raid the house and broke one of the bedroom windows and then flew a drone in, she said. The Dayton Bomb Squad then showed up and was there for around two hours.

“The latest is now there’s a van with a series of people in masks with suitcases that have entered the house,” Moss said.

She said it was an unusual morning for the quiet neighborhood.

“This is one neighborhood that always seemed very private and tucked away,” Moss said. “It’s not a neighborhood that gets a lot of activity. You don’t drive through it or cut through it in any way. This was not normal whatsoever.”
