A man who handed over a note demanding money Wednesday at a Fifth Third Bank in Moraine was caught by police inside the bank.

Moraine and Kettering police responded to an alarm activation at 12:05 p.m. and surrounded the bank at 1923 W. Dorothy Lane before the suspect was able to leave, said Sgt. Andy Parish of the Moraine Police Division.

While officers were on the way, the bank’s security firm reported they were watching the suspect on a live video feed. Security staff provided the man’s description and updated officers on his movements.

“We were able to make phone contact with the bank ourselves and got that suspect to come out of the bank, really without any incident,” Parish said.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, came out on the first request and cooperated with arresting officers, he said.

No injuries were reported to anyone inside the bank during the robbery.

“There is no indication he was armed. We did not find any weapons on him,” Parish said.
