“I think (it’s all about) really allowing people to understand where their beverages start,” Kirchner said. “Everybody loves craft beer, people love kombucha and it all starts with plants.”
Homegrown Weekend revolves around a fundraiser for Homegrown National Park, a nonprofit organization with the goal to encourage people to plant native plants in their backyard and combat the loss of biodiversity.
“Did you know there is 40-50 Million acres of lawn in the US? This is nearly as much as all of the National Parks combined,” Kirchner said. “At Full Circle Brewgarden, we think much of that land can be used for so much more and wanted to celebrate all the ways we can “Lose the Lawn,” and created an entire weekend to celebrate all things homegrown.”
Below are event details:
Friday, Aug. 23
- 5 p.m. Release of Flowers and Fruit, a Belgian blonde with apple cider, lemon zest and elderflower.
- 6 to 9 p.m. Strawberry Lane Market and Bluebird Acres Apiary will showcase products grown in their backyard such as holistic items and honey.
Saturday, Aug. 24
- 2 p.m. Release of Homegrown National Park, an American wheat beer that can be flavored with house made blackberry or paw paw syrup. The brewgarden will feature a $25 bundle that includes a pint of beer, glass pint and a native tree or shrub. $10 of each bundle sold will go to Homegrown National Park.
- 2 to 6 p.m. $1 from every pour will be donated to Homegrown National Park. Customers can enjoy drinks in the garden and collect native plant seeds to take home.
Sunday, Aug. 25
- 2 to 5 p.m. Customers can bring excess summer produce or plants to the homegrown produce and plant swap. Blue Bus Coffee Roasters will be on site with coffee samples and beans to sell.

Full Circle Brewgarden is a combination of the owner’s various passions. They both enjoy craft beer and Kirchner had been brewing kombucha for seven years prior to opening the brewgarden. She has a background in biology and environmental science. Her husband works in horticultural.
