A Dayton woman who went missing Sunday night from Mary Scott Nursing Home has been found dead, police said.

Penny Boddie, 63, left in a manual wheelchair from the nursing home at 3109 Campus Drive in northwest Dayton’s College Hill neighborhood.

She was last seen around 9:15 p.m. Sunday going east on Cornell Drive near Wesleyan Road. She was with a male acquaintance who has since been found, according to the Dayton Police Department.

“Penny Boddie was tragically found deceased (Wednesday) evening,” Dayton Police Department spokesman James Rider said. “Our hearts go out to Ms. Boddie’s family.”

No foul play is suspected in the death of Boddie, who suffered from early-onset dementia and diabetes but did not have the insulin she needed, police said.

An Endangered Missing Adult Alert was issued Monday afternoon for Boddie but was canceled Wednesday evening.

“The search for Ms. Boddie has been quite extensive,” Rider said.

Police reached out to the public over the past few days for help to find Boddie, and on Wednesday asked for residents and businesses to check security systems or video doorbell footage for images of Boddie recently.
