Police said that on arrival, they found a Jeep Wrangler on its driver’s side facing the wrong direction near the Dryden Road exit, as well as a dump truck pulled over on the side of the highway.
Inside the Jeep, officers said they found two occupants, both of whom sustained suspected serious injuries.
According to the report, the driver was pinned and trapped, and the passenger was trapped in the back of the SUV. The report said that neither were wearing a seatbelt.
Both were removed and taken to Miami Valley Hospital. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.
Two witnesses told police that the dump truck was parked in the center lane of the highway with no lights on, and that the Wrangler didn’t see the truck as they approached. The Jeep tried to swerve around the truck, witnesses said, but crashed into the back of it, rolling the Wrangler onto its side.
The crash closed the highway for a little over four and a half hours Saturday morning.
It is unclear why the dump truck was stopped, or if there will be any charges related to this crash.
