First responder injured after ambulance involved in crash in Dayton

A first responder in an ambulance was injured after the vehicle was involved in a crash while attempting to take someone to the hospital in Dayton Tuesday evening.

The first responder had non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Dayton Police Department.

According to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center, the crash was reported at the intersection of Main and First streets at about 6:47 p.m.

The ambulance was traveling south on Main Street when it collided with another vehicle traveling east on First Street in the intersection, according police.

The ambulance had its emergency lights on at the time of the crash.

“Fortunately there were no injuries in (the second vehicle) which had five kids inside, only one of whom had a seatbelt,” said a spokesperson for the police department.
