According to police, a citizen reported being called by someone offering free child safety kits.
When the citizen declined the kit, the caller became aggressive, even questioning whether the citizen cared about their child’s safety.
Police said that this is a scam that they first heard about in 2019, and is aimed at stealing the child’s identity, since parents rarely run credit checks on them.
