The final two defendants accused in break-ins at a Harrison Twp. house last year where guns were stolen have been sentenced.

Steve McCubbins and Steven Schroyer were both sentenced to four to six years in prison last week in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court. McCubbins also will be on parole for two years following his release and Schroyer will be on parole for two to five years.

McCubbins pleaded guilty to one count of complicity to commit burglary in December. Schroyer pleaded guilty to an aggravated burglary charge on Friday, according to court records.

McCubbins, Schroyer and their co-defendant, Jerry Knight Sr., reportedly broke into a Harrison Twp. house on Brantford Road and stole guns.

The homeowner reported three men broke into the house and stole multiple guns on Sept. 23, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

The next day, deputies returned to the house for a shooting. The homeowner reported he confronted two suspects and shot at one of them.

Schroyer was found with a gunshot wound to his arm and McCubbins was located at the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall at 1161 Bartley Road. Deputies arrested the pair along with Knight.

During an interview with investigators, Schroyer admitted going to the house with Knight and McCubbins to take scrap metal, with McCubbins serving as the lookout, according to Vandalia Municipal Court records.

“Knight admitted to breaking into the residence multiple times over the past couple days and taking multiple items from inside,” an affidavit read.

A search warrant was served at Knight’s house and multiple firearms were discovered.

After previously pleading guilty to one count of aggravated burglary, Knight was sentenced to five to seven and a half years in prison and two to five years of parole, according to common pleas court records.
