Beavercreek’s Chad Lindsey has stepped into the role of the city’s next chief of police after he was sworn in by Mayor Don Adams on Monday.

Lindsey is a 1999 graduate of the University of Dayton, having earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Studies.

Lindsey joined the Beavercreek Police in August 2002 as a patrol officer and served as an evidence technician, technical crash investigator, officer-in-charge and Regional Emergency Response Team negotiator. He was assigned to the Investigations Division as a detective in 2013 and became a certified polygraph examiner in 2014.

He was promoted to patrol sergeant in 2015 and captain in 2016. As a captain, he commanded the Investigations (now Special Services), Support Services, and Operations Divisions. He also served as the department’s CALEA accreditation manager from 2022 to 2024.

Lindsey assumes the role as outgoing Beavercreek Police Chief Jeff Fiorita retires after 33 years of service, the past four as chief. Fiorita joined the Beavercreek Police Department in January 1992, and was sworn in as chief in January of 2021.

In a ceremony Friday, Fiorita received the Beavercreek Police Department’s Leadership and Integrity Award for his “superior achievement as a police leader with character, commitment, and integrity,” the department wrote on Facebook. Fiorita is the third person in the department’s history to receive this honor.

“It has been a great privilege to work alongside some of the finest officers in this department. I am thankful for the relationships I’ve built ...,” Fiorita said. "Thank you for the opportunity to serve as Chief of Police. It has been an honor to protect and serve this wonderful community.”

At his swearing in Monday, Lindsey said he is “blessed and appreciative” to have the new opportunity as chief.

“I’m inspired and thankful every day by your commitment to our team and for your dedication and sacrifices you make for this community,” Lindsey told Beavercreek police officers. “We work in a job where every single day we have the privilege to make a positive impact in the community and lives of citizens. That privilege comes with great responsibility and we will continue to carry out our duties professionally, fairly, and always with respect and integrity.”
