Another restaurant has added a temporary surcharge to eggs due to the increase in egg prices nationwide.

“Rather than increasing prices across our menu, we will be temporary adding a 20 cent increase to all eggs,” Debbie’s Restaurant wrote in a Facebook post on Feb. 4. “This is a temporary surcharge tied to the unprecedented rise in egg prices due to the bird flu.”

Debbie’s Restaurant, located at 2620 Valley St. in Riverside, is not the first to implement a surcharge on eggs.

Waffle House has added a surcharge of 50 cents per egg.

“Customers and restaurants are being forced to make difficult decisions,” a statement from Waffle House said.

The average price of a dozen eggs hit $4.15 in December 2024, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In December 2023, a dozen of eggs cost $2.51.
