School district officials said Tolbert has strong ties to the Mad River community, serving as a member of the Community Connectedness Committee, as a levy board participant and youth basketball coach.
“Tolbert’s unwavering passion for community engagement and dedication to education make him an invaluable asset to the Mad River School District Board of Education,” a school board statement read. “The district is excited to welcome his leadership and expertise as he works to foster growth, enhance opportunities and ensure every student is empowered to achieve their fullest potential.”
Tolbert is a retired Air Force veteran with a background in industrial hygiene, safety and disaster preparedness. Tolbert currently is a safety specialist for Kent Power and oversees construction site safety in Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia and Michigan.
Tolbert and his wife, Jasmine, have seven children — including four who graduated from Stebbins High School and three who are currently enrolled in the district.
