Police were dispatched around 6 a.m. Friday after a relative reported finding Bogan unresponsive, Lt. Jason Hall said during a Wednesday media briefing.
“This woman had been intentionally killed,” Hall said.
Bogan was killed sometime between 9 p.m. April 29 and 5:30 am. April 30 in her apartment in the 800 block of Uhrig Avenue, according to court documents.
The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office has not released a preliminary cause of death.
“The victim and the suspect were acquaintances. They had known each other for a very short period of time. The investigation is ongoing, so as far as the motive behind this tragic crime, we are still working on that, still fleshing that out.
“What I can tell you is unfortunately in this situation that two young children are without their mother,” he said.
Hall confirmed the children ― listed as a 10-year-old boy and 4-year-old girl on the crime report — were home. However, they did not see their mother killed, he said.
A warrant has been issued for Beasley, who has fled the area, Hall said.
Police are asking for the public’s assistance to find him. He stands 6 feet 2 inches, weighs 180 pounds and has family in Indiana. Anyone with information is urged to call Dayton police at 937-333-COPS (2677) or local law enforcement.
