Man killed after fiery crash into tree in Beavercreek Twp. ID’d

Speed is believed to be a factor in a fiery crash Labor Day morning that killed a Wilmington man in Beavercreek Twp.

James H. Eyler III, 43, was headed driving a 2013 Ford Edge around 4:50 a.m. south on Beaver Valley Road just past Kemp Road. While approaching an S-bend near Siebenthaler’s Beavercreek Garden Center, the SUV went airborne off the road. The SUV hit a tree head-on and caught fire, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Eyler was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the crash and there were no other occupants in the SUV.

Eyler was believed to be traveling at high speed, according to OSHP.

The crash closed Beaver Valley Road, which reopened around 8:30 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation by the patrol’s Xenia Post.
