U.S. 35 West has reopened near the Dayton-Riverside border following a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday morning.

A medic responded to the crash near South Smithville Road and at least one person was transported to Miami Valley Hospital, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch.

Information about their condition was not available.

The exact number of vehicles involved in the crash was not clear. Initial reports indicated as many as five vehicles had pulled off to the shoulders of U.S. 35, according to dispatch.

U.S. 35 West was closed between South Smithville Road and Woodman Drive. It has since reopened.

Multiple crashes were reported on highways throughout the region Wednesday morning following light snow showers.

The U.S. 35 East ramp to Interstate 675 North was closed in Beavercreek and the ramp from Colonel Glenn Highway to I-675 North were also closed due to crashes.

Traffic was backed up through Dayton on Interstate 75 South after a crash blocked the left lane near Edwin C. Moses Boulevard.

It’s not clear weather conditions are believed to be the cause of any of the crashes.

While drier conditions are expected during the day, another round of snow showers is possible in the late afternoon and early evening, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington. Snowfall is expected to be scattered, but there is a chance for brief heavier bursts of snow that could decrease visibility and lead to slick spots on the roads.

A crash closed the Colonel Glenn Highway ramp to Interstate 675 North in Greene County on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024.
