Woman critically hurt, among 7 taken to hospital after I-75 crash in Miami County

Seven people were taken to the hospital, including three children and a woman with critical injuries, following a crash Wednesday morning on Interstate 75 in Troy.

The crash was reported around 6 a.m. on I-75 North near state Route 41 after a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica minivan hit the back of a 2022 Freightliner semi-truck, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The Pacifica went off the road and into a concrete median and sustained heavy damage.

The driver of the Pacifica, as well as an adult passenger and three children ranging from 5 months to 12 years were taken to Upper Valley Medical Center by Troy medics with minor injuries, according to OSHP. CareFlight transported another passenger, a 55-year-old woman from Michigan with critical injuries, to Miami Valley Hospital.

The driver of the semi-truck also went to Upper Valley Medical Center with minor injuries.

Miami County Sheriff’s deputies and first responders from the Troy Fire Department assisted troopers at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
