Nearly 150 employees will be impacted by the closure of a Piqua auto components manufacturer.

“We expect to permanently terminate the employment of employees at the facility in phases between March 2025 and September 2025,” said a Jan. 8 letter from Kathleen Baldoni, Nitto Inc. vice president of human resources, to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

“The first group of terminations will take place between March 7th, 2025 and March 21st, 2025,” Baldoni wrote. “No recall, transfer, or bumping rights exist, and no union or other employee representative represents the affected employees.”

The letter said a small number of employees will be transferred to the company’s plant in Frankfort, Ky. An exact number of employees to be transferred was not given.

The letter from the company says 147 employees will be affected by the closure plans in Piqua.

A message seeking comment was left with Baldoni Friday.

The auto parts manufacturer has a location at 1620 S. Main St. in Piqua. A decade ago, the business expanded into a new, 20,000-square-foot facility at 220 Fox Drive, also in Piqua. It appears that facility closed some time ago; the phone number for that site has been disconnected.

Company officials in 2014 said the expansion would help create capacity for anticipated growth in the automotive industry.
