Need to get out of the cold? Here’s where you can warm up in Dayton

Today’s high temperature is subfreezing, but there are places where people can warm up in Dayton.

The city uses it three recreation centers as warming centers.

They are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

  • Greater Dayton Recreation Center: 2021 W. Third St.
  • Lohrey Recreation Center: 2366 Glenarm Ave.
  • Northwest Recreation Center: 1600 Princeton Drive

Anyone who needs shelter outside of those hours can stop by the following St. Vincent DePaul shelter at any time:

  • Women and families’ shelter: 120 W. Apple St.
  • Men’s shelter: 1921 S. Gettysburg Ave.

The Dayton Fire Department urges residents to check on neighbors and loved ones and also to consider the shelter and conditions their pets need.

The high for today will be near 27 degrees. There is a chance of snow, mainly before 10 p.m. It will be cloudy with an overnight low around 20 degrees.

Friday will be partly sunny and a high above freezing, near 35 degrees. Friday night will be mostly cloudy with an overnight low around 25 degrees.

Saturday will be mostly cloudy and much warmer, with a high near 47 degrees. There is a slight chance of rain after 1 p.m. Rain is expected Saturday night, which will have an overnight low around 39 degrees.
