The Kettering Big Lots store may stay open, according to a list of assumed leases the new owner of Big Lots filed with a Delaware bankruptcy court.

The 2050 E. Dorothy Lane store in Kettering is among the stores named in a 36-page list of assumed Big Lots store leases.

Some background: Just before Christmas, Big Lots announced plans to close all its remaining stores after it failed to complete a deal for the purchase of the company.

But early in January, a bankruptcy court approved a deal with Gordon Brothers Retail Partners, LLC that will let Variety Wholesalers, Inc. acquire between 200 and 400 Big Lots stores.

Gordon Brothers said it will back Variety’s efforts to operate the Big Lots “go-forward” or future footprint.

A list of assumed leases filed with a bankruptcy court recently shows the Big Lots store could be part of the company's future footprint under a new owner.

The plan is to operate at least some of those stores under the Big Lots name, including perhaps two distribution centers.

“Through our tireless efforts and close collaboration with Variety Wholesalers, we are not only enabling the continued operation of hundreds of Big Lots stores but also helping to keep employees in their jobs,” Al Williams, co-head of North America Real Estate Services at Gordon Brothers, said in January.

Big Lots also has stores in Fairfield, Huber Heights, Lebanon, Middletown, Miamisburg, Piqua, Riverside, Springdale, Springfield and Trotwood.

None of those stores appear on the list.

However, stores in Akron, Canton, Cincinnati, Grove City, as well as Kettering, and elsewhere are listed. In all, 28 Ohio stores are listed.
