New Lebanon Local Schools has announced that Dixie Elementary will be closed today and Wednesday due to COIVD-19.

Superintendent Greg Williams said the two-day closure will allow for additional cleaning in the building and also let those who are ill rest without having school work for those days.

“In our message to parents, we did note that we are continuing to monitor the circumstances at Dixie Elementary School and that an extension of the closure is possible,” he said.

According to the district’s COVID-19 information dashboard, last week Dixie Elementary had two current coronavirus cases in students and three positive cases among staff. Seven students were listed as quarantined.

In total, the district reported nine students COVID-19 cases among Dixie elementary, middle and high schools last week, with 39 students quarantined. There are four positive cases among staff at all three schools

We have reached out to the school for clarification on the closure and will update this story when we receive more information.
