An argument ended in gunfire that resulted in the death of an 18-year-old, according to a preliminary investigation by Dayton police, who arrested another teenager in the shooting.

Crews responded around 12:30 a.m. Saturday to the 400 block of West Hudson Avenue, where they found Kameron Dewberry, of Dayton, suffering from gunshot wounds.

“He was removed to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries,” said Dayton police Lt. Jason Hall. “Dayton homicide detectives responded to the scene, and the initial investigation indicates that this homicide was the result of an argument that tragically escalated into gunfire.”

Detectives worked throughout the day to identity and locate the suspect.

Dwayne J. Jones Jr., 18, was arrested around 7 p.m. without incident, Hall said. He was taken into custody on Wood Dale Drive, according to Miami Valley Jail records.

“He is currently in the Montgomery County Jail on a preliminary charge of murder,” Hall said. “The facts and information developed during this investigation will be presented to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of formal charges.”
