Dayton woman shot, killed on Vernon Drive ID’d

A 30-year-old woman is dead after her cousin called 911 to report the victim’s husband had shot her, according to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center.

The gunshot victim was identified as Tenisha Burdine of Dayton by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

The shooting was reported around 10 a.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of Vernon Drive.

Burdine was reportedly found dead in the house after the suspect left in a black truck, dispatchers said. The 911 caller, the victim’s cousin, said the suspect was headed to Chicago.

The caller said that the suspect dropped children off at her house before she drove to Vernon Drive, where she found Burdine deceased, she said.
