One person is dead following a fiery crash Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 70 at the 22 mile marker, east of the Arlington Road exit in Clay Township near Brookville.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Dayton Post said that based on initial investigation, the crash occurred at 4:36 p.m. when a Nissan NV Cargo van traveling east on I-70 went off the left side of the road and hit the end of a guardrail.

The van continued in the grass median, crashed into an overhead traffic sign post and caught fire.

An ODOT traffic camera image shows that the vehicle struck the north support pole to an overhead highway sign.
