Operation Santa Sleigh to spread holiday cheer to hospitalized children tonight

Miami Valley first responders will share the Christmas spirit with the community and patients at Dayton Children’s Hospital during a procession throughout Montgomery County Monday evening.

As part of the sixth annual Operation Santa Sleigh, first responders will drive their public safety vehicles with emergency lights activated. Santa will also join the procession.

Participants will meet at the Dayton Airport Expo Center at 5:30 p.m. before traveling through Vandalia, Butler Twp., Harrison Twp., Dayton, Huber Heights and Riverside.

The caravan’s final stop is at Dayton Children’s Hospital on state Route 4.

The procession will result in temporary road closures as the caravan proceeds along its route. State Route 4 will be closed from approximately 6:45 to 8 p.m. as emergency vehicles park outside the children’s hospital.

Residents are encouraged to park along the route to greet Santa and first responders.

The procession will take the following route from the Dayton International Airport:

  • Right onto North Dixie Drive
  • Left onto Needmore Road
  • Left onto Troy Pike
  • Right onto Taylorsville Road
  • Right onto Brandt Pike
  • Left onto Harshman Road
  • Harshman Road onto state Route 4 South
  • Continue south on state Route 4 to park in the southbound lanes outside Dayton Children’s Hospital
