Power restored to most after outages left over 2K customers in dark

Power has been restored to most after strong thunderstorms moved through the area, leaving over 2,000 power customers without electricity at the peak.

The worst of the outages happened around 7 p.m. in Middletown, leaving 1,979 power customers in the dark.

According to the Duke Energy map, the outages in Middletown were all reported at around 6:45 p.m., after the National Weather Service in Wilmington announced a strong thunderstorm would affect Butler, Warren and Montgomery counties until around 7:15 p.m.

As of 9:50 p.m., the number of outages by county are as follows, according to the AES and Duke Energy outage maps.

  • Butler: 27
  • Montgomery: 3
  • Warren: 2
