During the checkpoint, 222 vehicles were checked and two citations were issued for driving under suspension, according OSHP. One person was cited for a child safety seat violation and one person was arrested on a felony warrant.
Five OVI arrests were made during the saturation patrols Friday. Two people were cited for driving without a valid license and two people were cited for seatbelt violations.
Friday also marked the beginning of the patrol’s “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign, which runs through Labor Day weekend.
The checkpoint and nearby patrols aim to reduce injury and fatality crashes due to impairment and to deter and remove impaired drivers from the road. The OVI checkpoint is funded by federal grants.
Anyone who plans to consume alcohol should designate a sober driver beforehand or make other travel arrangements, the patrol stated.
