Pedestrian hit, killed by vehicle in Harrison Twp. ID’d

A pedestrian was struck and killed Thursday morning in Harrison Twp. near the Clayton border.

The pedestrian was identified as 63-year-old Gary Hinson by Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.

A 2005 Cadillac Deville was headed north on state Route 48 and around 5:40 a.m. hit the person just south of the Dog Leg Road intersection, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. The driver pulled over and called the sheriff’s office.

Clayton medics responded and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

A 911 caller reported a person was laying in the road and not moving who had been walking down the road before being hit, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center records.

The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate.
