Police, fire crews investigate stolen vehicle found in Dayton pond

Dayton police and fire crews are investigating after a stolen vehicle was found in a pond early Wednesday morning.

Crews were called to the area of Lakeview Avenue and Lakeside Drive around 2:52 a.m. on a report of a vehicle in a pond, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch.

The Dayton Fire Department found vehicle partially submerged in the water and immediately began searching the area in boats and along the shoreline for any victims, said Dayton fire Capt. Brad French.

The Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Fire Department’s dive team conducted underwater searches.

Dayton police confirmed no one was found in or around the vehicle.

No injuries have been reported in connection to the incident at this time.

It isn’t clear how the vehicle got into the water, according to police. The vehicle was reported stolen out of a neighboring jurisdiction, police added.

The Dayton Fire Department was on the scene for approximately two hours.
