Police: Tornado siren activated on accident during training in Kettering

Kettering police said that a tornado siren that went off early this morning was an accident during a training exercise. There was no reported threat of severe weather in the area.

The siren went off a little after 5:30 a.m. and stayed on for a few minutes before it could be turned off again.

“Some Kettering residents may have heard the tornado sirens this morning at 5:30AM for approximately 5 minutes,” read a post on Kettering Police Department’s Facebook page. “The siren was inadvertently activated during a training exercise at the KPD dispatch center.”

The Emergency Alert System is working correctly, according to police.
